Sefu was trained by the Bible League to lead people to Christ through the study of God’s Word. His work takes him into refugee camps in the Nairobi area. Even though their circumstances are very grim, people are finding Christ in these camps. Mr. Zukiah is one.
He lives in a refugee slum for Congolese people just north of Nairobi. He maintains a low profile so that the Kenyan police don’t arrest him for not having the proper identification papers.
“I left the Congo a very bitter man,“ says Mr. Zukiah. “Even though I believed in the existence of God, I could not believe His love.”
Mr. Zukiah had witnessed many things, including the slaughter of his relatives. He sobbed as he told of depending on Good Samaritans as he crossed the dangerous terrain to get to Nairobi. “If God was loving, how could He allow my parents and brothers to be slaughtered by the rebels in my sight?” he questioned.

“I hated God for what I had seen done to my people,” says Mr. Zukiah. But Sefu saw a needy soul—one who could only be healed by the precious love of our Father.
“When I first came to the Bible study, I met fellow Congolese who had gone through similar experiences or even worse,” remembers Mr. Zukiah.
As he continued to study, Mr. Zukiah became convinced that the Word of God is true. “I realized who Jesus is and how He suffered that I might have eternal life,” he says.
Today, this man is living peacefully, though still in a foreign country. “My heart and mind have been healed,” he says. “My prayer is that God will use me to help many know the love that has been revealed to me in God’s Word.”
