Bible League News on Manila Floods
Bibles Destroyed as Bible League Manila Office Deluged by Floods
In preparation of potential flooding from Tropical Storm Ketsana on Saturday 26 September, Bible League workers went to move Scriptures in our Bible League warehouse to higher ground. As they did, a wall of water came down the street and within minutes the Bible League office was under 2.5 metres of water. The whole ground floor was flooded which submerged the lower half of the warehouse and four vehicles.
While it’s reported at this time that all national staff, their families and homes are safe, they have been directly impacted emotionally as they try to move forward in immediate recovery efforts. “The devastation in and around Quezon City and the loss of life and Scripture has been painful for our staff,” says Montgomery. Initial estimates are that at least 90,000 Scriptures Bibles, New Testaments and Project Philip and Church Planter materials have been lost.
The worst floods for decades in the Philippines, thousands have been killed or displaced. “We know that once the immediate needs have been assessed they will be massive and long term,” says Montgomery.
Urgent prayer is needed for those impacted by the storm. Bible League-trained workers; locally trained Christians, will be reaching out providing help, comfort and prayer.
Bible League International’s ministry in Philippines began in 1971, providing local believers with the tools necessary—Scriptures and training—to bring people into fellowship with Christ and His Church.
We appeal to you to help sponsor and replace Bibles, training resources and office repair for the Philippines. Your prayer and financial support will be blessed.

“While typhoons and torrential rains are common in the Philippines, this recent storm wreaked havoc on the area and our ministry was hit hard,” says Jim Montgomery, Senior Director of Asia Ministries for Bible League International. More than 80% of the capital city, Manila and the surrounding areas were under water at one point.
